John Jantsch’s “Duct Tape Marketing” is a go-to book for small business marketing. The book focuses on sustainable and scalable marketing methods. Jantsch breaks down marketing into actionable steps and various topics, like defining your ideal customer and leveraging marketing channels.
Jantsch’s writing style is engaging and easy to follow. It simplifies marketing concepts for business owners with different levels of experience. Examples and case studies show how the strategies can be applied in business.
This book is a reread for me because I purchased it back in 2008 when I started my first home business. The book is nearly 20 years old. Some resources might need updating, but I found some hidden gems I missed before.
A quick search on Amazon showed me that John Jantsch didn’t just write a book and walk off into the sunset. He has weekly podcasts on audible and amazon music and has continued to keep his finger on the ever changing pulse of marketing. I’ve added his podcasts to my weekly listening list.
Duct Tape marketing is still a successful resource. It gave me a rounded view of marketing. To be fair at the beginning, I hated it, but I’ve learned over the years how to tailor it to me in my small business.
