September Round-up

Exploring Relationships, Love, and Life

Created with Sketch.

As summer winds down, September signals the start of the autumn knitting season. Let’s dive into my treasure chest of finished objects.
My habitat cardigan is complete. It will become my favorite sweater for curling up on those cold winter days.

I also picked up another unexpected project that got me pumped—the Ranunculus Sweater by Midori Hirose. I broke the rules and used a chunky weight yarn instead of lace to worsted weight, but I’m super happy with the results. Now I understand the almost cult following of this project and why people often make more than one. I want to create a lighter version of this DK yarn with short sleeves.

My Langley Sweater is still on the needles and growing slowly, but I also felt the need for instant gratification and palate cleansers. So bring in the lacy hair bandanas, Tunisian crochet towels, and washcloths. I also finally completed Mr. V’s socks and created a couple of chunky baskets, which I’m sure I will find a use for. Also in the FO stack is the Classic Crochet Bunny by One Dog Woof. I rarely make amigurumi projects, but this guy was so cute and squishy I couldn’t resist. Now I need to find a recipient.

I also started the crochet Leona sweater, but I have to admit it’s giving me a hard time. The pattern isn’t making sense to me, and I’ve had to adjust.

What have I been listening to during all this crafting? I’ve been taking classes on editing. I assimilate better when I have my hands busy. Otherwise, I get distracted. The teachings are time-sensitive, leaving little time for actual writing. I’m enjoying what I’m learning and plan to come out of this better, more ferocious editor.

September has been an eventful month, filled with the satisfaction of finishing beautiful knitting projects, classes that helped me broaden my authoring skill set, and new projects that push the envelope as a crocheter. I can’t wait to share more progress updates and stories in future updates.
