August 1, 2023 Reflections on Overextending Myself and Prioritizing Self-Care

Exploring Relationships, Love, and Life

Dear Coterie,

I hope this email finds you well. I’m updating you on what has been happening with me lately and sharing my plans for the near future.

I had to poke a bit of fun at myself.

Recently, I had big plans to finish the rebranding project and indulge in my passion for writing books again. However, due to pushing myself beyond my limits, I ended up falling sick. It took a toll on me, and it was only when Mr. V sat me down and insisted that I take a break that I realized how much I neglected my self-care and health. Unfortunately, this is a recurring pattern for me – I tend to do well for a while and then quickly revert to my workaholic tendencies.

I don’t know what caused me to fall ill, but my stomach was a mess one evening after dinner. As a result, I focused on doing the bare minimum, knitting and crocheting, and even managed to write a fanfiction that had been on my mind for quite some time.

At present, these are the tasks that have occupied my plate:

– Rebranding tasks, which will take a few more weeks to complete.

– Re-editing my lead magnet.

– Yardsale tasks – pricing a plethora of items.

– Creating a website for a close friend, in addition to my regular chores and marketing responsibilities.

Although I did make some progress on my rebranding and novels, most of my time was dedicated to knitting and crocheting. I found solace and relaxation in experimenting with crochet socks, and I was also able to draft the first version of a new fanfiction.

Before falling ill, I completed almost everything on my friend’s website. I opted for MailChimp as it is user-friendly and seamlessly integrates email into the website, simplifying the creation of mailing lists. My friend also needed an online scheduler and a platform she could manage independently. All that remains now is teaching her how to use it effectively.

Over the next month, I plan to prioritize my self-care and restore a healthier work-life balance. Have you ever been so engrossed in your work that you inadvertently neglected your well-being? How do you handle such situations? I am always open to new ideas and perspectives, so please share your insights.

Thank you for your understanding and support. I value the Coterie and look forward to getting back on track with my writing and professional endeavors.

Warm regards,

Lady Velvet Peterson
