Wips and Bips January Update

Exploring Relationships, Love, and Life

Created with Sketch.

I’m always up for a new project, so I’m currently juggling a few different WIPs and BIPs.

Here are the current BIPS (Books in Progress). I’m working on a new novel called Dear Mate. The book is nearly half written, with a tentative publication date of October 2023.

Since the “great burnout” that took place in June of last year after The Nefarious Knave, The Chronicles of Discovery Book Two was released. I realized I needed to space out my work. Even during my burnout, I was writing. I wrote most of Book three, then between burnout on the series and new ideas that kept coming to me. I decided to pivot and change how I was doing things. I need variety in my life even though I do many of the same things every day. Example: I write daily. Changing up the story gave me a lift.

Confession time… I’ve been holding out on you and came up with a new series idea. In fact, I’ve already written the first book. The working title is A Fourway Love Affair. The first draft is complete, and I’ve set it aside to marinate before editing. Don’t worry. I still remember Avae and her troubles in Illia. Book 3 is still coming, but I needed to take a break from the story because I felt things were getting muddled.

Now the WIPs

First, let me share a few completed items. I love this Winter League Pullover by Two of Wands. I caved and bought the kit from Lion Brand.

I made two pairs of socks from stash yarn.

Then I dabbled in Tunisian crochet and made this cute ear-warmer and a hat. Doing a small project in between my larger ones gives you that feeling of instant gratification. That is needed when working on longer-term projects. I also finished a blanket sweater for a friend who has been spending far too much time in hospitals lately (hospitals are cold).

I also completed the Cactus Cowl by ChiWei from One Dog Woof (https://www.1dogwoof.com/cactus-cowl-knitting-pattern-free/). Sorry, no pictures because I gifted it for Christmas.

My current WIPS:
The Sophie’s Universe Afghan. Less than 20 rows to go. Whoo!

I’m currently crocheting my first sweater. I’ve dubbed Lady V’s homebody sweater.

Since I’ve got so much sock yarn, I also have another set of socks on the needles.

I’ve designated a stopping point for all three of these, and then I will turn my attention to an instant gratification project. I chose this slouchy crochet hat by The Lavender Chair because my grown-out pixie hair has gone nuts.

It took me a long time to enjoy fiber arts again after shutting down the fiber animal rescue in 2014. Sometimes healing takes longer than you think it will, and shutting down the rescue was one of the hardest things I faced. I can now say that I’ve come out on the other side stronger for it.
