Desert Rose Chapter 35 Disappeared

Exploring Relationships, Love, and Life

As they looked around, the dimly lit small chamber they were in had several doors at some point, but most were blocked or caved in. “We should probably take that one,” Deneve pointed to an open doorway that had light coming from it.

“It does seem like the most logical place,” Lord Red agreed. They made their way through the corridor into another chamber that had a large brazier. Again the room had doors going in many directions. One seemed to be leading back to the surface while the other had a much longer corridor that appeared to be head further down. The rest were either blocked or unmovable.

They looked at each other quizzically for a moment before the both of them pointed, “That one.” Deneve chuckled as Lord Red smirked. They walked down the long corridor and through a doorway that opened up into a massive room that seemed to be split into sections.

They took the first opening on the left to see several stone triangles, with runes all over them, half-buried in the sand.

I remember these are ancient fragments. They have different shapes to represent other states. This pyramid is one such fragment.

What does it mean to your people?

In general, they stand for creativity, energy, and maturity, both psychologically and spiritually. It always symbolizes a more significant consciousness and reintegration of the self and soul.

“Deneve, there is an etching on here.” Lord Red said curiously, reaching for his pack. He takes a tracing before slipping his materials back into his bag.

“Could you decipher it?” She asked.

He shook his head, “I think it’s in something older than Old Valencian. Perhaps the library in Valencia City will have something to help.”

Walking into the next room, they find large stone rings. Lord Red looked hopeful as he walked quickly around the rings looking for some writing. It didn’t take him long to find it.

Circles and rings, almost the same, both represent unity and infinity, also loyalty. Of course, now people use them to show commitment. But before those days, the ring was considered much more than just a symbol of allegiance and romance. It was a symbol of all cycles and seasons, of life and death, and eternity.

Is this what you remember about this place?

Yes, this will be our starting point. This place is reminding me of what I’d forgotten.

“You’ve been rather quiet,” Lord Red noted curiously, looking at Deneve.

“Blackie has been rather talkative,” She explained. “This place is reminding him of things and hopefully where we need to go next.”

“I guess that is good,” he said smiling. “Shall we move on?”

The next room has stone octahedrons. Deneve felt drawn to these stone shapes for some reason, and she immediately walked over and ran her hand over the rough stone. Lord Red looked at her curiously but decided against saying anything as he checked for any writing.

The shape of the Octahedron symbolizes reflection, compassion, and healing. Resting on a point signifies the careful balance of multiple forces. You use much of your power for the same thing. This is why it resonates with you so strongly. It also symbolizes the many directions you could take in life.

“Blackie said I was drawn to his shape because it symbolizes compassion and healing,” Deneve said to a confused Lord Red.

“That does sound like you,” he admitted with a small smile.

Walking into the last room, there were spheres half-buried in the sand. Deneve knew what the spheres symbolize, completeness, equality, and acceptance. They are the container that can hold all other forms.

Yes, you understand. It is the perfect shape.

Lord Red was getting the tracing from the Sphere when Deneve saw it. A doorway with an eerie green light was just in the middle of the four rooms. You could almost miss it as the partitions partly hid it in the vast room that broke it up into these quarters for the relics. But Deneve was sure they had passed by on their way, and the green glow was pretty conspicuous.

“Lord Red,” She said, nodding toward the door.

He followed her gaze. “Strange, we didn’t see it before as we passed by there.”

“I was thinking much the same.” She agreed. They headed toward the green door, once through the descending corridor was narrow, so Lord Red took the lead. At the bottom, there was an ancient-looking artifact with a slot for a strange-looking key. Around the artifact, there were 4 devices of some sort that seemed to be inactive. Deneve suddenly felt dizzy.

What is this place? I think I may be going crazy. Is this what you call being …scared? That artifact…I have a feeling you should never open it.

“Deneve?” Lord Red asked worriedly.

Deneve reached out to steady herself. She touched one of the devices and then…
