What Means Summer to You?

Exploring Relationships, Love, and Life

What are the things that make you feel like Summer?

Probably the first thing that makes me think of Summer is Mint Tea. My Great- Grandmother lived in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania. When I was with Dad in nearby York County, we would visit my great-grandparents reasonably often, and my grandmother would always make fresh mint tea from her gardens around the house. I have one wonderful childhood memory from when I was about 4-years-old. Dad and I gone to visit my great-grandparents, and we had picked peas from the garden that day. Great-Grandma sent us home with a massive bowl of shelled fresh peas. Needless to say, only an empty bowl made it into the house. Dad and I had eaten them all before we got there.

Summer reminds me of simple food, backyard barbecues, family gatherings at the pond, and the lime jello salad that someone would always bring. I made that same recipe a couple of days ago and found I still love it as much as I did during my childhood. To try this recipe, click here.
