The White Lady of Millinocket is the name given to the apparition many people have claimed to see at the bridge located on Route 11 outside of Millinocket.

According to lore, a newlywed couple returning from their honeymoon lost control of their car and ended up crashed on the embankment near the bridge. The couple was fine, and the husband left his wife with the car to get help from a passing car or a nearby home, but his wife was gone when he returned to his car. No trace of her was ever found until she began “haunting” the area where the accident took place.

Some say the woman died and she is searching for the person who stole her wedding ring. Perhaps she is seeking revenge. There are many stories of ghosts seeking revenge.

There have dozens of claimed sitings of a woman dressed white standing in the middle of the bridge. A group of ghost hunters claimed the White Lady left handprints on their car during a dense fog.

Allegedly the decomposed remains of the car are there to this day.
