The islanders had a lovely breakfast on the deck, but they all went there in separate directions as it ended. “Babe, I’ve told my family I’d call them,” Rafi said, leaning over to press a kiss to her forehead. “I’ll see you soon.”
Reine sunbathed for a while but then headed to the kitchen to refill her water bottle. Ciaran was washing up. “Oh, hey, you mind giving me a hand?”
“Sure,” Reine stepped over by him and started was as he dried.
“You know it nice to do something mundane.” He said.
“Yea, sometimes cleaning up can ground you,” Reine said.
Ciaran nodded. “Look, I should have told you how I felt about moving from the start. Instead, I made us both miserable.”
Reine nodded. “I appreciate you realizing that. I probably could have handled it better too.”
“Yea, you probably would have if I talked to you,” Ciaran said. “I know I can’t take back what happened, but can we still be friends?”
Reine gave him a gentle smile. “I certainly hope so.”
Rafi stepped into the kitchen. “Am I interrupting?” He asked.
Ciaran shook his head. “No, I’ve said what I needed to say.” He stepped over to Rafi, giving him a severe stare. “Don’t hurt her as I did.”
Reine’s brows shot up in surprise, but Rafi nodded, taking Ciaran’s threat seriously. “I understand.”
