As you can see from the picture above, I have quite a few books on my reading list. Some I want to reread, others I’ve never read. I can’t wait to reread the Modesitt series along with the new ones. That I didn’t have.
A few from the pile are books that were in Miss Sally’s library. Back when Miss Sally had carpal tunnel surgery, she was bored because, of course, she could not knit or crochet. I bought puzzles and other things to pass the time. She was already an avid reader ordering books from BAM. But she was tired of the same old, same old, and needed some new authors to read. So I introduced her to science fiction and fantasy books. She preferred the lighter types, and I was able to find several more authors for her to enjoy.
Miss Sally said she would have never thought to try those genres. She read mostly paranormal mysteries and romances. She loved the Modesitt series and bought the new books that I didn’t have. I haven’t read them for some time, so I plan to read the whole series.
The pile of books on the far left are some metaphysical books I found interesting. I just noticed that my friend Kongmeng Lo’s book Legacy: The Beginning is there too. I did a review of that one previously.
So that is my slightly embarrassing amount of books I have to read. I used to never let go of books. I believed that all books have value, so no matter how dog-eared or broken the book was, I kept every book given to me even if the subject matter was of no interest to me. The thought was that someone could use it. But after years of hoarding books, I realized many don’t read physical books anymore. They use e-readers or audiobooks. I started getting rid of books that were wholly trashed and donating others to libraries.
Once I read these books, I will most likely pass them on to make room for new ones. There are some that I keep, but I’m aware that one day will downsize. I need to be selective in what I bring with me.
