My Favorite Sad Ending

Exploring Relationships, Love, and Life

Favorite sad ending from a book. When I was young, I started reading, so probably my favorite sad ending from a book is Charlotte’s Web by E. B. White. I don’t know how many times I read that story.

When I had the question put to me, this is the first book that came to mind. I was five when I read it for the first time. I remember coming away stunned because it wasn’t a happy ending. I cried when Charlotte died.

I realized that you could have an ending that is both sad and happy or happy and nostalgic at the same time. To a five-year-old, this was astonishing. I found myself going back to that book, even as I got older. I can’t thank my paternal grandmother for bringing Charlotte’s Web into my life.

For some reason, the books I read as a child seem to stand out a bit more. It might be because I used books as an escape. As I got older and the internet came into being, I found myself pulled into games with the same intention.

Confession: I am a gamer. I love games with a great story. I absorb visual novels through osmosis.
