The last few months have proved to be a learning experience in how adaptable I can be. Miss Sally’s death and then Covid 19 beginning have tested my ability to chameleon in new situations. I’m still adapting to a new schedule that allows me more writing time and quite frankly I let my previous schedule lapse.
The gym was closed. I no longer needed to cook large meals and think about meal prep as much. I started ordering my groceries. There was no reason to get up early to finish this so I could move on to that. As a video game junkie, I stayed up late and slept in even later. I let my carefully planned schedule fall to the wayside. I’ve been told I don’t sloth well. I can’t even sit still long enough to watch a movie without some sort of craft to work on so staying up late and playing video games is really the only way I relax.
There were some good things about this initially. I got a break once we cleared Miss Sally’s house and made phone calls to cancel her services. Knowing I needed to learn how to cook for two instead of twenty I got a subscription to Hello Fresh (Disclaimer: I’m not sponsored). That was nice because I didn’t have to worry about planning out a menu. It’s actually a bit expensive once the promo deal ends but the meals were delicious and easy to make. The main reason I subscribed was to learn how to cook for two again.
But as it continued when the stay at home ordered I found myself becoming less productive the later I stayed up and the longer I slept in. I quickly realized a new schedule was needed. I made goals one of which was to do some sort of exercise. Stay up on my Instagram and Facebook group. I signed up for an online class and decided to write 750 words every day. Even if it’s a post like this or going back and finishing some unfinished fan fiction.
Graphical work, I love doing it and you’ve seen some of it in my posts the last week. Taking the time to finish up some UFOs (unfinished objects in crafty terms). I’ve pulled out projects that are partially done and scheduled time to work on them. I’m making a new planner to go digital with instead of using my printables.
Canceling Hello Fresh, I started making a new cookbook as well. I do love some of their recipes though and with my newfound knowledge in how to make just enough for two. I’ve started making my own menu again. I actually went to the grocery store for the first time in weeks. Maybe with all the life changes, I experienced the sloth reflection time was needed.
