I didn’t realize that it’s been months since I shared a fiber update. I have four finished objects to share with you.
The first project is my son’s Christmas gift. He asked me to make him a scarf and fingerless mitts set for when he is outside on his break from work. He requested the items immediately following Thanksgiving. So I needed something quick and easy because of Lucky’s care (more here on that). I chose the Stitch-Sampler Handwarmers & Ribbed Scarf by Churchmouse Yarns and Teas. I started on December 15th because I needed to buy yarn for the project and finished on January 8th.

When I ordered my son’s yarn, I also ordered a scrubby kit. My accountant (Jess) asked me if I could make her kitchen scrubbies, as she loves them but doesn’t do that kind of craft herself (this was about five years ago). Every year since I’ve been gifting her a couple of scrubbies when she comes to do my taxes. This year I got the sunflower kit. I’ll be seeing her on Sunday to do taxes and gifting these adorable scrubbies to her then. Here is a link to the crochet kit.

Back in August, I started a hat for my husband. My intention was to make him something warm and have an easy, portable stockinette project. Enter the Blank Slate Hat by Drops Design. It’s very much like the Musselburgh Hat but with fewer sizes and yarn thicknesses. If I had known I would make more than one in differing sizes, I would spring for the paid pattern. As of now, I have no plans to make another hat like that. The Blank Slate Hat was started on August 27, 2025, and completed on February 9, 2026.

The fourth finished item is a shawl. I don’t normally make shawls as I don’t wear them, but our knitting group did a group project. The construction was interesting, and I often make things I don’t wear to learn a new technique (they go into my gift box for Christmas and such). So the Regina Marie by Sara Huntington Burch was cast on. Started on January 13th and finished February 28th, it’s already found a recipient. I promise to mail it out this week.

What is on my needles currently? A few things, but what I’ve currently worked on is my Pressed Flowers Cardigan while I was swatching for the next project I want to finish. Now I’m working on the Lilium by Megan Nodecker. I was getting overwhelmed with having too many WIPS so I purposely went through everything. Frogged and hibernated stuff am currently a monogamous knitter but working on other projects in between.
So that’s the update. It’s more than I realized. November was the last time I did one.
