This week I’m sending you an excerpt of my next standalone book. I haven’t named yet. The working title is ‘Cheated’.

As the cab pulled up in front of her cozy, two-story house, Charlie’s lips curled into a warm smile. The conference had wrapped up earlier than expected, and she was filled with anticipation at the thought of seeing Jamie. After a long and exhausting week, the prospect of reuniting with her husband was a balm to her weary soul. Lately, an unsettling calm had settled between them, and he had seemed somewhat distant, almost like a ship drifting away from its moorings. She was determined to bridge that gap and reignite the spark that had flickered dimly in recent times.

Wanting to surprise her husband, she hadn’t called him to pick her up at the airport, opting to take a cab. With her luggage in hand, she paid the driver and tipped him before making her way into the house.

The darkness didn’t faze her at all as she slipped off her coat and placed it on the rack.

Jamie was likely playing games in his study as he often did after work. She left her suitcase in the entryway and walked to the study. He wasn’t there. Maybe he was already in bed. Perhaps she could wake him up in a sexy way. Charlie grinned at the thought and pushed the door open.

Jamie was in bed, but he wasn’t asleep. The little lamp they always used for setting the mood was on, so she could see everything. Jamie was fucking … her mother.
