Now here’s where is step in with my personal thoughts. As a music teacher, I love the references. The book is good but as someone who already lived their life this way. Yesterday is gone, today is the present, and we make the future what we want it. “I will make tomorrow better” is not surprising or novel concept to me. As a Gen X latchkey kid from a broken home, I didn’t want to go backward. I am always looking to make the future better with the family I have chosen. I believe in prioritizing my happiness and exploring the world, as long as I do so without causing harm to others and treating them with respect.
Overall, this book is a terrific source of motivation. If you’re going through a rough time and need some incentive to look toward the future, this might be exactly what you need. It wasn’t nearly as groundbreaking as Covey’s other work.
