Book Review: Love, Lies, Immortal Ties by C.J. Laurence

Exploring Relationships, Love, and Life

Created with Sketch.

“Love, Lies, Immortal Ties” by C.J. Laurence is the first installment in the captivating Whitby Shadow Series. The story follows Caitlyn (Cat) as she returns to her hometown to assist her ailing father. Upon her return, she encounters Luke, a diligent handyman working for her father, and Marcus, a charming and affluent socialite.

Neither Luke nor Marcus are who they appear to be, and as Cat delves deeper into their identities and the secrets of her town, she finds herself drawn into the dark underbelly of Whitby.

I enjoyed this YA read, and this book really surprised me. To be fair, I thought it was a full short story and then when it ended I thought it was a prequel. Then it hit me: C.J. Laurence did the same thing I did with the first book of my fantasy series. I’m not gonna say because it will ruin it. Touché, C. J. Laurence, Touché.
