Although it’s been a slow writing year, I’ve found that I’m happy with where I am. The editing process of AFWLA (A Four-way Love Affair) is going well and I’ve learned and tried some new things.
The first new thing I’ve tried is lacto-fermentation. Well, not the first, really the very first, was making my Greek yogurt. I honestly started doing this because of the expense. One gallon of milk will make two thirty-two ounce containers of Greek yogurt for me. The math brought me here. One gallon of milk is $4.19 where I live and my favorite Greek yogurt is $6.99 a container.
This started me down the rabbit hole (completely of my making), which concluded with me taking an entire fermentation masterclass. I learned about different ferments for vegetables. How to make kombucha, water kefir, milk kefir and learned more about kvass. I want to do things to help my family healthier and by that reasoning was trying to find a fermentation Mr. V would like (he can be so picky sometimes). To be honest, I worry about his digestion as he’s been on some sort of stomach acid reducer for years. I hope I can find something that he’ll like. So far, it’s been a bust.
On a crafty note, I’ve been working another large house project and put my long sleeve sweater and knee socks into the hold bin until closer to fall. Spring and summer projects are calling me. Here are a couple of projects I recently started.
I’m obsessed with the colorway of this yarn and even though I bought this one on simply sock yarn, I just had to check out the dyer and found this one as well.
The look of this top first the summery cool feel I’m looking for. The yarn is Ice Yarns Alora. It’s a 50% cotton, and 50% acrylic blend.
