Exploring Relationships, Love, and Life

Created with Sketch.

I don’t believe in resolutions…

Because they were always something to force me to do things I hated, I’ve found that anti-resolutions are the way to go. I’m picking four things I won’t be doing this year, and believe it or not, one of them has to do with this newsletter. You can read my blog post on Anti-resolutions here.

Although I refuse to make resolutions like ‘lose more weight’ or ‘read more books.’ I still have goals that are entirely different from resolutions. After releasing The Nefarious Knave and writing most of book three of the Chronicles of Discovery, I hit burnout. It wasn’t writer’s block people talk about. I needed some variety. I needed to work on something different than the series. So I took a break and pivoted completely, and started another book.

I love Avae and her adventures in Illia but trying to complete the series the way I thought I should, was not feasible. This change was exactly what I needed to get my creative juices flowing again. From now on, I will be alternating writing and editing so that I don’t become indifferent to the story.

Some Wins From 2022

Even though I didn’t make my goal of publishing four books in 2022, I did write four books. I learned a lot about how I need to change up my work to stay creative.

I also realized what I needed to do for my personal weight goals. Honestly, I felt like a failure because it took nearly the end of the year to figure this out. But now I’m seeing regular results, which is very rewarding.

The Lady V Writes website has been updated to include the latest works in a separate section called BIPS (books in progress), where you can see the plan for 2023.

Lastly, I hope your holidays were fantastic, and we all have a great 2023.

Lots of love,

Lady Velvet Peterson
