Wips and Bips Update For April

Exploring Relationships, Love, and Life

Created with Sketch.

You may have noticed some things changing at Lady V Writes. I’m tweaking the brand and hope you like the changes. All fantasy romances will be under Lady Velvet C. Peterson, and all contemporary romances will be under Lady Velvet Peterson. If I try another genre (which isn’t out of the question), I’ll use another name variant. I’m redoing all the book covers with the new monikers and updating my first cover( till in progress). Of course, I’m still working on new drafts and finishing The Chronicles of Discovery Book 3.

In crafty news, I have a lot to report. Last month, I shared six current projects.

  1. The poncho is complete, and I even made a hood/cowl to go with it. It’s my favorite winter coat.
  1. The homegirl sweater is also complete. It’s cozy and squishy. I admit I make my clothing larger than needed, but I still love the outcome.
  2. The socks still need to be finished. They look finished, but I miscalculated the stitch count for the second cuff, and I need to tear it out in redo it. I was getting frustrated with the project and put it into time out for the time being.
  3. I completed the poppy cowl. This pattern was one I got from the Balls to the Wall website. I love how the colors have come together.
  4. Sophie’s Universe is on hold until I gather the yarn to complete the fourteen rows. I will mention it again when I make some progress.
  5. I planned on working on the tartan blanket since Sophie was on hold. I was going to work on it but got distracted by another project.

Now onto the new stuff:
I’ve tried pooling crochet, and I’m obsessed. I love argyle and buffalo check. It takes some tinkering, but it’s so satisfying to put colors where you want them creating a cool pattern. This is why the tartan is still sitting, but I plan to get back to it (I mean, can you blame me? It’s gorgeous, too.). The pattern information is available here.

I also completed another Cowl from the Balls to Wall website. I like my instant gratification projects in between my larger ones. The design is from her Sugar and Ice pattern. I love her designs.

I started a new pair of boot socks for the hubs using my new excel sheet sock calculator, and the first boot sock fit his foot perfectly. I set the calculator to use any gauge and any size foot. You must do a swatch and have measurements of the foot you want to make the sock for. Once you have that information, the sheet will format the number of stitches you need for each sock section. I’m still testing it, but it’s looking good so far.

Another project I started after completing the Homegirl Sweater was the Side Split Pullover by Knitatude. I love the relaxed but modern feel of this knit.

When I watched Bag O’ Day Crochet whip up this cute sampler hat. I had to make one.

Then this cute basket went across my Twitter feed, and I had to make it.

Whew! I didn’t realize how much I’d actually completed until I wrote it all down. Let me know in the comments about what your wins were. What did you do last month that made you smile?
