I can’t stay still for long. Even my downtime is semi-organized into projects. My latest project has been creating a space for the world of Illia where The Chronicles of Discovery series takes place. Enter WorldAnvil, which is like is a world-building space for novelists, dungeon masters, and game creators.
I have been keeping all my notes for Illia on documents and files in Scrivener. While this works, I often have to find the folder and then the file to locate the piece of information that I need. WorldAnvil works like a wiki enabling you to create articles and link them to each other. It also allows you to make tags. It’s less linear and more like a web of information (as a world would be).
I’m still figuring out the program, and I love the idea that it can keep my info at my fingertips without searching through files and folders. The one drawback for me is that it is browser-based. This means if my internet goes out, I lose my access. Where I live, this is pretty common, so I would still keep my scrivener updated as well.
Another exciting thing WorldAnvil does is allow you to share your world with the public. I’m still learning about sharing permissions. I hope to have the world of Illia live for the public soon.
