Goals for the New Year

Exploring Relationships, Love, and Life

I, like most people, set some goals for the new year. Most have to do with writing or business. But I have one personal goal to accomplish.

Personal Goal: lose 5 pounds a month.

If I can do this continually, I can make my health goal of 60 pounds this year. I haven’t always struggled with the battle of the bulge, but middle age is making it harder to lose. To become more aware of how I’m eating, I’ve started tracking my food through my Fitbit app. I’ve also found if I eat two good-sized meals, I’m not hungry at other times. We purchased a treadmill for Christmas. I don’t beat myself up if I don’t do it every day. Five times a week is good.

I’m still working on the best time to exercise and balance fat burning with yoga and stretch (which I need for my neck and shoulders). Writing and sitting at a desk for much of my day takes a toll, so I’m trying to use my exercise to break up my day.

New day routine:

6 am  – wake up, journal, get dressed

7 am  – write

10 am – breakfast

11 am – work

2 pm  – exercise, shower

4 pm – start dinner, eat, dishes

5:30 pm – work

7 pm – relax, gaming time

9 pm  – prepare for tomorrow

10 pm – bedtime

I hope to one day take out the late afternoon work time and even shave off a few more hours on the 11 am to 2 pm time slot when I hire can a VA. Of course, I am flexible. There are days when appointments, animals, and husbands need to be taken care of. I just put them in, and don’t worry about the work “I missed.”
