Exploring Relationships, Love, and Life

The tongue-in-cheek art above accurately portrays my frustration at the situation.

I started this post on my computer to find out that it seems another hard drive is messed up. I got back from the repair guy, and unfortunately, it is still not fixed, but I don’t blame him. He did everything in his power to figure out the issue.

So I lost the original post because of a BSOD (for those who don’t know, tech means Blue Screen of Death). I’ve suspected this hard drive from the beginning. Its predecessor caused The Great Data loss of May 2021. Yes, I replaced it with the same one. Getting Best Buy to take back the faulty one was hard enough. Until I proved it wouldn’t hold the operating system, my motherboard would not recognize it consistently.

The repair guy clarified that the filing system wasn’t right and fixed it. The errors started again, and it was apparent that the computer would not act right after a wipe and fresh install of Windows. So for now, I’m using my old computer (A. K. A Mr. Freakenstein) and couldn’t be happier except for a few minor sound issues.

Yes, it runs slower and lags, but I feel secure in knowing it won’t shut down on me, causing a loss of work.

After all this trouble I’ve had, I’ve considered going to Apple for several reasons. Apple makes all parts. They have terrific programs for what I do. I want Vellum for formatting. It creates beautiful books. I don’t game as much as I used to. I understand that dollar for dollar, I would get a better computer by building my own, but the peace of mind is pretty inviting.

What are your thoughts? Are you already an avid Apple user? Or do you think building your computer is better?
