Once out of the underground caves, Deneve, stunned by the night desert view, stopped in her tracks to take it all in. “I don’t think I want to head back to the city yet.”

Lord Red looked at her and back at the night sky before he nodded. “Let’s just make camp here then.”

As soon as they made camp and ate, Deneve stepped away from the campfire to enjoy the panoramic view of the desert. The moon was high in the sky, and it lit up the crests of the dunes. She sighed, pulling her overcoat closer to her body to ward off the nighttime chill.

“It’s beautiful, isn’t it?” Lord Red acknowledged as he reached around Deneve and pulled her back to his chest.

She leaned against him, grateful for the warmth, and nodded. “This is probably my favorite place.” She admitted.

“Well, perhaps a villa outside of Valencia City would suit your taste better?” He replied.

Deneve tilted her head thoughtfully as she considered. “Yes, that would be better. But first thing tomorrow, I am taking a break.”

“Oh?” Lord Red asked, surprised.

“Yes,” she nodded as she turned around to face him. “I will be returning to our world for a few days. I know just where I can finish writing a few papers, and we can relax if you wish to join me. I’ll hand them off to one of my assistants, and then we can come back.”

“Of course, I would gladly come with you.” He said quietly as he bent his head to press a kiss to her forehead.

She sighed and leaned into him again. “Good.” She tilted her head to brush a kiss onto his lips.
